Cough, splutter

Filed under: Uncategorized — notsaussure @ 8:37 am

No posts yesterday because I’m recovering from a truly sinister bug — I hesitate to call it ‘flu’, because I’m sure it isn’t, but it’s had me coughing, spluttering and aching all over, and desperate to sleep — I must have spent most of the last 36 hours asleep, surfacing for an hour or so every few hours.

Most unpleasant.    Anyway, back to bed.   I’m hoping to feel inspired — and able — to post something later today, but we’ll see.

And, no, I haven’t been eating undercooked turkeys, Hungarians or anything else of the sort.

  1. You eat Hungarians? No wonder you’re sick, Notsaussure. You should stick to Romanians and Bulgarians. Get well soon!

  2. Oh dear, feel better soon.

I recommend chicken soup, even if it doesn’t have antibacterial properties as some Jewish mamas ( and shiksa such as me) allege, it is terrifically good for this sort of thing.

Pop lots of garlic into it too, apparently it works wonders.

  3. Hot lemon drink with honey and a dash of whiskey. Be well.

  4. Thanks all. I’m slowly recovering. I will try the various recommended remedies and see how I get on… now, where do I find a Bulgarian…

  5. 100% accurate diagnostic tool for Real Flu (from my GP): if there’s a £50 quid note on the grass outside and you can’t face going outside to get it, it’s flu. Otherwise, it’s a cold. GWS.

  6. Probably not Real Flu, then, though I suppose we’d better check.

Who would like my address so they can come round and put a £50 note in the front garden? Don’t be shy.
