I said I wasn’t going to canvass for anyone in these polls, not even for myself, and I’m still not going to. However, they’ve introduced me to some excellent blogs which I hadn’t come across before, particularly Visions of Bradford, who is a strong contender in the categories Most Politically Incorrect blog and Best Ranter.

His announcement of his candidacy possibly gives a flavour of why he’s in the first category, and this exchange with someone rash enough to argue with him gives a good idea of why he’s doing well in the second.

Well worth a read.

  1. Well, I gave him a quick read and was underwhelmed. It seems to me that he just jumps up and down shouting, “Belly, bum, drawers”, ‘a la’ Flanders & Swann, at everyone and everything. And each obscenity reduces his rating several points in my opinion.

  2. De gustibus non disputandum, I suppose; I was rather taken by his image in his idea that supporters of the BNP should be clubbed ‘like baby seals,’ but each to his own.

I’m greatly enjoying your exchange with the good Councillor Kelly, by the way. His line of argument that the fact something he claims to have happened has nowhere been reported, at least not the way he remembers it, all goes to show that there’s a press conspiracy is particularly ingenious.

  3. That’s not a bit whimsical, Duffo?

  4. Debating with Cllr. Kelly is rather like clubbing a baby seal. Still, I am beginning to feel rather fond of him. I have always enjoyed true eccentrics, by which I mean, those who are completely unaware of how eccentric they are. Also, debating with him makes me, in comparison, feel tremendously clever and knowledgeable – which I ain’t!

    Nor am I whimsical, Alex.
